I have an advanced version of Windows Media Player, which comes with a star-rating already programmed on there. I had no problem with it, until I saw that on my Boys Like Girls CD, they rated "The Great Escape", "Five Minutes to Midnight" and "Hero/Heroine" only got two stars! Those are my favorite songs on the album, and every song on that album deserves more than two stars! Okay, now it is a lot less time consuming, but, even though music taste is a matter of opinion, should Windows Media Player program star-ratings?

I think that we all should have our own opinions about our tunes. That is why I love iTunes! I rate every single one of my songs. =]

I understand both sides, but I'm a Mac girl, and WMP will always come in second to user friendly iTunes. this just highlights the difference in motivation between the two computer companies. Windows constricts and limits, Mac is for the user. Booh YAHHHHH! haha

yeah, when i used my WMP to rip my AAR Move Along cd that was scary too, because the songs Move Along,Dirty Little Secret and It Ends Tonight got 2 stars each one and from that moment i don't use it anymore, now it's only iTunes because of that, and it's easier to synchronize my iPod=)

So weird.

I'm featuring this poll on the front page. I want to see if other people are experiencing this too.

Thirded. Macs rule, Windows bites.

Some songs I put on there got 2 stars, which I found weird since I knew I'd never rated them...
I didn't think about it much then, i just re-rated them.
ashleymg: 12/05/2007 11:34 AM
I think it's stupid, but you can change the ratings, so why does it matter?
aestewart06: 12/05/2007 11:34 AM
that's odd! i just updated my WMP not to long ago and it doesn't do that to me. but i don't believe it shoud rate it for you! where is it getting it's rateings from? i thought those where awesome songs too. just cause many other people don't don't think so, doesn't mean you can't! i disagree with the newer version WMP! but i'll keep useing it!

I think that it matters because someone else shouldn't be the one to originally rate YOUR music. It is as though someone is telling you what to think.

It shouldn't come with any pre-programmed ratings. Every song should start at zero and the user rate them if, when, and how they want.
jennifern225: 12/05/2007 12:23 PM
I've had that for a while, and I have WMP 10. The more you listen to a song, the higher the rating goes. I think. It happens on mine. Normally it doesn't bother me but the higher a rating/play count of a song, the more often it gets played. That can get annoying on a mixed playlist. I wish I had a Mac.
burningstarsxe: 12/05/2007 1:59 PM
I don't even pay attention to ratings. Plus, I use iTunes. Wahaha.

people are stupid. all of the star ratings can be changed in wmp. anyone with anything more than a basic knowledge knows mac locks out 100x more than windows. hell, thays why you cant do shit with an ipod without itunes, dispite the fact that every other mp3 player is just a drive
