September 28, 2009Nostalgia Movie Monday Announcement
Today's Nostalgia Movie Monday will be cancelled, and added in a double feature for two reasons.
One, my auto-post is acting whack (still wondering if i's just my computer, or if I should alert Mark), so I couldn't do it before I left. Two, because of leadership camp, I didn't have time. So, I hope you all don't mind too much, and can forgive me. Also, off-topic, but if there was any major e-drama that happened, you guys should alert me.

September 19, 2009Nostalgia Movie Monday #4: Little Mermaid 2Did I forget to do last week's? I'm so sorry. I realy am. I tried to do it this week, but due to technical diffculties, I couldn't. So, we are skipping A Troll in Central Park and diving straight into The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea.
Ariel and Prince Eric give birth to a baby girl named Melody. Ariel apparently gave birth on a ship, and Melody's announcement is given in an opera-style. Of course, they use "Melody" as a pun for everything. Crap. Also, Triton's budget has increased and recent years, and now he has gold-plated gaurds to announce him. He also gives Melody a special locket that has her name on it, and when you open it, it plays a song and turns into an Atlantica snow globe. I've been itching for a time to use this, and now, here it is!
Guess who came to Melody's announcement party? That's right! Ursula's crazy sister, Morgana. She plans to avenge Ursula, and actually succeeds. Wow. That is until Ariel, Eric and Triton all save her. But, not close enough. To protect Melody from Morgana, Ariel severs ties with the ocean. Triton throws the locket into the sea, where it shall never be found. Twelve years later, and Melody has an obsession with the sea. I'm so shocked. Also, Morgana now lives in a glacier, and can't stand to hear that Ursula is better than her (uh, that's because she is). She also refers to Melody as the "tool to Triton's undoing." Gee, didn't Ursula say something along those lines about Ariel? So, Melody returns home, to her party of twelve-year-olds acting like they're in Pride and Prejudice or something. God. So, while Melody dances with a cute guy, Sebastian ruins the party, while the people who are only there to watch her fail laugh. Okay, she's the princess. If those people are bullying her, why doesn't she like, exile them or something? Also, if she really wants to fit in, why doesn't she try a little harder to, instead of whining "People think I'm weird! WAH!" and then remaining said weird activity? So, Melody and Ariel get in a fight because Melody finds the locket that is crucial to the plot, and thus has broken the one rule Ariel gave her: Don't go into the water. Her life is like, so hard, right? So, she runs away, and is cornered by Morgana's minion, who convinces her that Morgana will tell her all she needs to know about the crucial locket. Morgana tells Melody that the locket contains her destiny, and then turns her into a mermaid. At least it wasn't in song sequence. Meanwhile, Triton starts a sea search party, while Eric has one on land. For some reason. I guess to keep up appearances. Triton turns Ariel back into a mermaid so she can help. Of course, this includes her returning to all her favorite spots from the first movie, while Melody is impersonating her own mother. Now, the major plot kicks in. Morgana convinces Melody that King Triton's trident is hers, but Triton stole it, and she needs it so she can make Melody a mermaid forever. Now, I'm going to pause right here and let loose a little thought. They try really hard to make Morgana like Ursula. I mean, she says similar phrases, the same "tentacles gather around her face, the same maniacal laugh, even the same voice actresses. There is only two differences: Morgana isn't as good of a witch as Ursula, and Morgana joined Weight Watchers. As if you couldn't tell, I prefer Ursula. More to love. Or more to love to hate. I don't really know what. As Melody wanders off to get Triton's trident, she meets her two sidekicks, Tip and Dash, a penguin and a seal. They sing, and head off to Atlantica. While Ariel meets up with Flounder and his guppies, Melody, Tip and Dash have made their way to Atlantica. They steal the trident, as Melody's necklace falls off. Morgana's sting rays float by, and Ariel and Flounder follow them to Morgana's lair. Ariel is just in time, as Melody gives Morgana the trident, and...Morgana acts even more like her sister. She imprisons Melody and Flounder, captures Ariel, and does some showing off as the new Queen of blah blah blah. Eric storms in just in time on his ship, as Morgana wrecks it. Triton and his gaurds that he got from his pay raise storm in too. Tip and Dash rescue Melody, who is now human again. As Morgana forces all sea creatures to bow down to her (ooh...threatening.) as Melody sneaks up, grabs the trident, throws it to Triton, as Morgana...stands there screaming "NO!" He freezes Morgana, and everything is normal again. All the sea creatures and royal people on land can be together again, as Melody remains human. Overall, it was aight. Although there were definetely some inconsistencies with the animation. When Melody just emerges from the ocean, her hair is dry, but when she's up in her room, her hair is in a towel, and still wet. When we first see Flounder 12 years later, he has gained some weight. But, when he's trying to help Melody escape her cage, he has suddenly lost weight. Then, he gains it back. Also, if Morgana really wanted to be better than her sister, she shouldn't've joined Weight Watchers. Music-wise, I'll admit the songs are good, though not as good as the original (the only two reasons I like the original Little Mermaid is music, and Ursula). The song I really like is "Adventurers Slash Explorers", mostly because it's kinda corny. You wanna judge the songs for yourself: Thanks for reading this. If you disagree with me, I will gladly accept your opinion. However, being rude will immediately get you picspammed.

September 13, 2009VMAs 2009 in 200 Words or lessWith Twitter, we always try to condense our thoughts into as many words as we can. So, I am going to give a recap of the VMAs in less than 200 words. Can I do it? You bet.
New Moon is melodramatic, Kanye West is a douche and Lady GaGa is...eccentric.
Jack Black is hilarious, it is MTV law to mention Twilight every ten seconds and Muse is kicking your ass.
Tyson Ritter is David Bowie's long lost son, and we mourn two deaths.
Lady GaGa looks like the White Witch covered in blood and Pink needs an OG badge.
Beyonce, Andy Samberg, and Jimmy Fallon are starting a Boyz II Men cover band, Beyonce is a sweet girl filled with sugar and candy, and Lady GaGa has a poor choice of dates. Russell Brand still has it, and JAY-Z IS STILL ON TOP, AND ALICIA KEYS IS EFFING AWESOME.
Janet kicks ass, and Katy Perry...just...ugh.

September 11, 2009My Three-Year BuzzaversaryAs of today, September 11, 2009, it is not only the eight-year anniversary of 9/11, but it is my third year on Buzznet. In case you are wondering, yes, I did intentionally sign up for Buzznet the same day of one of America's most tragic events, so people would forget about that, and remember me.* Throughout the day, I've been wondering what to do to celebrate. Host a roast? Nah, someone might take full advantage of that and intentionally attack me, or someone else. Write a touching piece about some of my favorite Buzznet users? I don't have time, sorry. Highlight what I think is some of my best work? Too cocky. Then it hit me. What is the most entertaining on the Internet? E-drama! Here, I recount some of my favorite encounters on this site.
The names have been changed to protect certain people, and because I might be banned if I don't. I think. Would I be banned? Oh well, I won't test it. First, I'd like to talk about an encounter I actually kind of started myself. I cannot link you to it, because I have been blocked from the page. Whose page you ask? Schmefree Schmar. Next, I'd like to lighten up some newbies on an incident that is oft-mentioned on the site. The SchmamieSchmalifornia incident. I wasn't actually involved in this, but I will give what I think is the story of it. Basically, Schmamie started his annoyance on the contest "Be Big on Buzznet", where he was just a general douchebag. His entry in the contest was a video of him raking leaves. This has made so many users crack jokes. Then, he was caught for auto-adding. In case you didn't know, using a computer system to automatically add people is really bad. For this, he got banned. Now, for a story of someone who got big hacking Twitter, who got his start by hacking Buzznet. I'm talking about the hacker, Schmikeyy. He seemed okay. He even had conversations with Schmark about HTML. Then, one day, when everyone got onto their Buzznet accounts, they couldn't. Whenever they went to their friend's page, or even their own page, a screen blocked up saying that Schmikeyy hacked into Buzznet, but for our own good, because a virus had spread there. It's not just that, but also on this page, he credited himself, and even gave a shout-out to some of his friends. He also shrinked people's friend's size down considerably. It took days for that to be fixed. Best believe he was banned. Now, the most recent piece of drama. I call it the Schmokencyde Saga. With that, I have reminisced about some of teh e-drama of the past, present, and future, of Buzznet. I have enjoyed my three years of Buzznet, and hope to enjoy many more.

September 10, 2009Smeyer disses Harry Potter"Oh gosh, don't get mad at me but I don't know what a wizard fight looks like in her (JKRowling's) head. I know what it looks like in the movies so I have to go on what it looks like in the movies. But here is the thing, if it's possible for a human to duck a wand being shot at them; a vampire is not going to have a problem. The fight would be over in .01 seconds because Edward would be across the room snapping his (Harry's) neck. He would be done. He wouldn't even have time to say his spell word. I'm sorry but Edward would win that one."--Stephenie Meyer on Edward vs Harry Where do I start? Okay, how about I just simply say this: You also have a lot of nerve to go on Pottercast and ramble about how your character is the bestest, and disrespect another author's work. Would you like to go on Buffycast and say that Edward would bitchslap Buffy if she ever stood up to him? Stephenie Meyer, stop insulting fictional characters to make yours look better. It makes you look immature, and really doesn't get you any more fans. In fact, I think it gives you more enemies. Any thoughts.

September 7, 2009Nostalgia Movie Monday #3: Recess: School's OutIt's back-to-school, so it's time to go back to grade school! Recess was an animated show created by Disney, and originally ran from 1997-2003. It still runs on Disney XD and the Disney Channel, at 3 AM. It starred six kids, and their adventures on the playground, and occasionally, other minor characters, and even teachers. The show was so successful, that they made a movie for theaters. The film did well in the States, but not so much overseas, mainly to poor publicity and advertising. The film also had stars like Robert Goulet as Mikey's singing voice, Melissa Joan Hart as TJ's sister, and James Woods. However, it had a pretty moderate critic rating. So what do I think of it? Well, the bell has rung, and it's time for RECESS! The beginning is a little more...epic, than the show is. However, for having a frugal budget, the animation is pretty good. We of course get a glimpse of our bad guy. Played by James Woods. It seems that this yet-to-be-named bad guy is setting up his evil plan headquarters at...Third Street School. We get to our main setting, where the show's theme song is being played, as King Bob crowns a new king for next year. Everything you need to know about the six kids, TJ, Vince, Spinelli, Gretchen, Mikey, and Gus, can be shown here. The gang pulls their last prank, and TJ gets caught by Principal Prickly. The principal tries to punish TJ, but he can't do anything, because SCHOOL'S OUT! TJ's is forced to spend his summer vacation alone, seeing as EVERYONE is going to summer camp. That's right, every child in town is going to summer camp. That is, until TJ casually passes by the school, and notices a green light coming out of the school. He tries to recruit Pete Prickly, who is dematerialized when he tries to unlock the door, "just like in Star Trek." He rallies his friends, and they stake-out the school, until they try to rescue Principal Prickly. They over hear James Woods' evil plan, get caught, and they all escape safely. Except for TJ, who is caught, thrown in the same storage closet that Prickly's in, as Prickly gives us a flashback on James Woods, who was once principal of Third Street, until he was fired for trying to eliminate recess. When Prickly finishes his flashback, and TJ and Pete Prickly escape into his office, they learn what James Woods' ultimate plan is: To get rid of summer vacation. TJ finds his confiscated walky-talky, informs the guys, who get all the kids of the playground in, along with TJ's sister Becky, who apparently can't perform some magic spell to save her little brother. Damn. So, here is how James Woods is going to get rid of summer vacay: He will move the sun, which will cause temperatures in California (so the show is set in California? I thought it was Wisconsin.) to drop. For a not-as-spendy budget, the film actually does okay in animation. It's not SPECTACULAR like Aladdin, or Lion King, but it's not terrible like when Scooby-Doo first came out. I can't really say much about character development, considering most of it came from the TV show, even though we see TJ really grows up at the end of the movie, and his friends sort of grow down. And by that, I mean they learn to just enjoy their years as kids, instead of "preparing for the future" or whatever. While some of it is a little cliche, there is still some excellent humour. One thing is that James Woods is maybe a little misinformed on countries with the highest test scores. As of now, we do outscore Italy and Norway in math and science, whereas James Woods says Norway has the highest test scores. However, Gretchen was right in that Japan has the highest test scores, because when it comes to math and science, we don't do as high as Asian countries. However, my information comes from the year 2007, and this movie was made in 2001, so I won't hold that against him. I do love the message here, which is shown when TJ announces to James Woods' plan "You may take away summer, but you will never take away summer vacation!" The film also has a pretty hippie-ish soundtrack. They have "Green Tambourine" and "Let the Sunshine In", however, it is also a little cliche. Overall, I give it a B-. Good, but just a little cliche at times. Yet still manages to give us emotion. Or maybe that's just me.

September 5, 2009Top 10 Futurama EpisodesWARNING: This blog is entirely based on opinions. Most are definetely not going to agree with it. You are welcome to tell me what your favorite Futurama episodes are. But keep it civil. To me, and to other commenters. We all have opinions. But I have a blog and three badges, so that makes mine better.* I am a huge fan of the show Futurama. So huge, that when I saw Into the Wild Green Yonder this week, I just about cried and threw a fit when hearing the characters constantly talking about "The End" I calmed down enough to do exstensive research to find out if this was really "the end" of Futurama. It's not, but it was supposed to be. So, whether or not it is actually "the end" of Futurama, I decided to do a countdown of the best episodes of Futurama in my opinion. I know we all have our own opinions. But I have a blog and three badges, so that automatically makes mine better.* Futurama is a show mainly geared toward adult audiences, about a young man named Philip J. Fry from the year 1999 who was cryogenically frozen until the year 2999, and his adventures in the future, along with the adventures of his coworkers/friends. His friends from the delivery crew of Planet Express are Turanga Leela, a one-eyed mutant whom Fry has a crush on, and Bender Bending Rodriguez, who drinks heavily, hates all humans (except Fry), has kleptomania and a bad temper. Other members of Planet Express is Fry's great-great-great nephew, Hubert Farnsworth, or "The Professor" as his employees call him, Hermes Conrad, a Jamaican accountant, Amy Wong, a hip heiress from Mars, and Dr. John A Zoidberg, a Yiddish lobster-like alien, who has no home, money, and eats out of the garbage can. Other characters of note are Captain Zapp Brannigan, who is an imitation of Captain James T. Kirk (if you need to know, he's a character from Star Trek), and Kirk's actor, William Shatner. Zapp Brannigan had sex with Leela in the fourth episode, and has been trying to recreate the expierence at any chance he gets. Brannigan's 4th Lieutenant and personal assistant, Kif Kroker, is extremely timid, and hates being Zapp Brannigan's assistant, and also ends up dating, and eventually marrying Amy Wong. Nibbler is Leela's pet Nibblonian, who while the size of a cat, can devour animals five times larger than him, and also excretes dark matter, a spaceship fuel. Now that you've had a bit of background information, it is time to countdown my top ten favorite Futurama episodes. 10. "Mars University"
The crew must deliver a crate to Professor Farnsworth's office at Mars University. While there, Bender discovers a chapter of his old Fraternity, Epsilon Rho Rho, who is a bunch of nerds, who beg for Bender's helps to make them cool. Meanwhile, Fry learns that as a 20th century college dropout, he is currently the equivalent of a high-school dropout. He enrolls in Mars University, and planning on dropping out then. Fry ends up sharing a room with Farnsworth's expirement, a monkey in an undersized hat named Gunter. While Ginter becomes popular on campus, Fry ends up hating his roommate, going so far as to humilate him at a parents reception. He eventually flees into the Martian jungle, taking off his hat that makes him intelligent. During the boat regatta, Bender's fraternity tries to win to lift their probation status (and succeeds), and Leela, Fry and Farnsworth try to find Gunter, and help him choose between a life of siplicity, and a life of intelligence and misery. The episode is a spoof of Animal House, even ending in the style of Animal House, with a huge party, and subtitle pauses to show what happened to each character after the each episode. It is a humourous satire episode, but doesn't feature much of Zoidberg, Hermes, or even Amy. However, Gunter is a great character, yet he doesn't make any appearances after the episode. 9. "Hell is Other Robots"
After Bender gets addicted to electricity after an after party of a Beastie Boys concert, he puts the lives of his coworkers in danger to feed his addiction. He comes cross a church, and becomes saved. He ends up irking the same coworkers, until the end up tempting Bender to commit many sins in Atlantic City. He ends up getting sent to Robot Hell, where the Robot Devil recounts his many sins. There's a ton of them. Meanwhile, Fry and Leela try to save Bender. They must win a fiddling contest, but Leela hits the Robot Devil with a solid gold fiddle, tear the wings of a flying torture bot and attach them to Bender, who airlifts them to safety. I mainly love this episode because the song "Robot Hell" (and otally unrelated, but check out the Batman Beyond AMV, the Kingdom Hearts AMV, and Avatar AMV). It is catchy, upbeat, yet perfectly evil. If you were wondering, yes, that is The Beastie Boys in the song and entire episode. Also, Dan Castellaneta, who played Homer Simpson and the Genie in Return of Jafar and Aladdin: The Animated Series, as the Robot Devil. However, the episode includes many religious jokes, and even got a call from the Church of Scientology, because the name of Bender's church is the Temple of Robotology. This episode introduces us to two religious figures throughout the series, Reverend Lionel Preacherbot, and the Robot Devil. So basically, I'll admit, the song shot this episode onto my list. If it weren't for the song, I would like episode, yes, but the song definetely gave the edge to put it on the list. 8. "Three Hundred Big Boys"
President Nixon (yep, you read that right. Richard Nixon is the President of Earth.) issues a tax refund of $300. Leela plans to swim with a whale, Fry embarks on a mission to drink 100 cups of coffee, Bender buys a burglar kit so he can steal a ten thousand dollar cigar, Hermes buys a pair of Bamboo Boogie Boots for his son, who wanted an investment. Professor Farnsworth buys stem cells to look younger, Kif buys Amy a special watch that tells the time where both of them are, while Amy bought an obscene talking tattoo. And Zoidberg? He decides to become a rich man-lobster-thing. I think one reason why I really love this episode is the ending. After Fry's 100th cup of coffee, he goes into a state of hyperspeed, and saves the entire place displaying treasures of Zapp Brannigan, made of silk and lit on fire from Bender's cigar. Zoidberg spends the rest of his money dining with hobos in an alley, giving them a large meal. This episode also gives the minor characters more room to shine. The episode is mainly about the watch Kif got for Amy getting swallowed by a whale, and Leela using her ticket to swim with the whale, Mushu, to get the whale to vomit the watch. The only problem I have with this episode, is that if inflamation continues at the speed it is, wouldn't three hundred dollars notbe that big of a deal? And wouldn't a cup of coffee cost a little more than $3? Other than that, this episode is humorous and thoughtful. 7. "A Flight to Remember"
The entire crew goes on a luxury spaceship cruise entitled "Titanic". As they board, they are stopped by Zapp Brannigan, honorary captain, and Leela pretends to be engaged to Fry to get Zapp off her back. Bender meets a Countess de la Roca, and a romance parodying that one Cameron Crowe film ensues. Amy runs into her parents, who are nagging about her getting married and having grandchildren, but she then pretends Fry is her boyfriend. The ship hits a black hole, and Zapp makes Kif captain, so Kif'll go down with the ship, while Zapp escapes to safety. The episode successfully parodies that one Cameron Crowe film. What was it called? I heard it made a lot of money. Also, this episode marks the start of the Amy/Kif relationship. Shockingly, this episode makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Yes, us feminists can appreciate romances too. 6. "Fry and the Slurm Factory"
After a contest is announced where the winner gets to tour the Slurm Factory, and party with Slurms McKenzie, the Slurm mascot, Fry drinks nearly every Slurm drink there is so he can win. He ends up winning, and the whole crew go with him. Fry, Bender and Leela drift off, and discover the secret of Slurm. The "Slurm Queen" tries to give the three various punishments. They escape, and Slurms Mackenzie sacrifices himself to save his two accompaning supermodels, Fry, Leela, and Bender. The episode is a parody of Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, with Grunka-Lunkas, and an extravagant exterior. The episode is extremely funny, and a successful parody. The only problem is that the secret of Slurm kind of makes me want to barf. 5. "Amazon Women in the Mood"
Leela and Amy go on a double date with Zapp and Kif. When Zapp steers the resteraunt off course, they land on a planet inhabited by only women. Fry and Bender come to the rescue, and all the men are captured. They are given the best punishment ever: Death by snu-snu (sex). The planet is ruled by a femputer, who Bender seduces, and asks for the other mens' punishment to be reversed. The femputer is played by Bea Arthur. That's right. Bea effing Arthur. Also, the episode takes satire and does it well. Oh, and Bea effing Arthur. 4. "Love's Labour Lost in Space"
The crew does a mission of charity, by taking all the animals of a planet that is about to be destroyed, and bringing them to safety. They spot Zapp Brannigan's ship, and ask him for help, but he says no, and arrests them. When Leela tries to reason with him, Zapp tries to seduce her. He then tries to make her pity him, and she has sex with him. She leaves, and tries to save the animals of the planet by herself. She then finds a pet for herself, named Nibbler. The infamous episode where Leela has sex with Zapp Brannigan. This episode makes me relate to her, because the crew nags her about being picky when it comes to men. She also sticks to her guns. The ship is low on fuel, and Zapp won't help them because she has Nibbler on board. She refuses his help, but ends up being saved. I really love when she realizes what she's just done, and lets out a scream. It's hilarious. 3. "The Sting"
The crew go on a mission to get some space honey from deadly bees, whose sting can instantly kill you. When Bender messes up and insults the Queen, they narrowly escape, but a baby queen is on board with them. She tries to sting Leela, but Fry comes in between them. The stinger goes through Fry, and barely touches Leela. Fry is dead, and Leela becomes insane with grief. However, it was all Leela's comatose dream. This is another one of those romantic episodes. Not only does Fry sacrifice his life for Leela, but while Leela is comatose, he sits by her for all two weeks, talking to her, with the belief that if she heard a familiar voice, it might keep her mind together. Just typing this makes me want to cry. 2. "Bender's Big Score Part 4"
This is part of the new fifth season, which was four direct-to-DVD movies broken into sixteen episodes. In the fourth part of the first film, Bender's Big Score, the former people of Earth go to war to reclaim Earth. Bender becomes the unlikely hero, and the truth is revealed about Leela's ex-fiancee, Fry. One reason is because of the song when they prepare for war. Click here for the song. It features Coolio as Kwanzaa-bot. It also shows us the Chanukkah Zombie, who I hope to see more of. It also gives us action and humour. We see a war for Earth played out, and Al Gore says "Finally, I'm saving the world with deadly lasers instead of deadly slideshows." And of course, the surprise twist that makes Bender the hero. And finally,
Fry is learning to play the holophonor so he can woo Leela. However, he is terrible. He trades his hands with the devil's, and he becomes a famous holophonor, and is even requested a performance by Hedonismbot, and Fry decides to write an opera about Leela's life. Unfortunately, Leela is deafened, and cannot hear Fry's opera. This was originally the last episode of Futurama. The last bit of it is entirely in song, like an opera. I couldn't find it in full with video, so this is the best I could do. Also, Greek mythology reference for the win.
* This was a joke. I'm not actually serious.

September 4, 2009An issue I need to address. So, I have no idea why I feel the need to make an entire journal, but this point is always brought up against me in unecessary e-drama. So I am making a journal of it for future reference. So, I did a gallery of "Disney Daddy Day" in celebration of Father's Day for Buzznet a while back. In a certain arguement, when I told someone to spell correctly, they told me to grow up and said people who post pictures of Disney characters should not be taken seriously. I already gave that person an explanation for "Disney Daddy Day", so if another person brings that up again, I'll just bring up any GIFs and macros I have, and if you want to, you are free to also. Now, for the Nostalgia Movie Monday explanation. I am considering two career occupations for after college: Literature or World History Teacher/Professor, or Journalist/Columnist/Whateveryouwannacallit. I often practice my writing here on Buzznet. So far, I've worked on trying to keep my actual journal posts on an issue neutral, and I feel I've done well on it. For my final arguement, what do you think is more immature: Watching movies intended for children without children present, and giving opinions on it, possibly enjoying it, or going on to journals and blasting the poster, and anyone else who doesn't agree with their opinion? So, in conclusion, here's some pretty pictures summing up the entire journal:
