This is disgusting

A 19-year-old named Abraham Biggs committed suicide via drug overdose on a live webcam session for about 12 hours.
Users egged him on, thinking it was a joke, until one user messaged "OMG" when they realized it wasn't. Someone finally contacted the website, who notified the police, but by the time authorities arrived, it was too late. Only then was the session stopped.

Proof.

Being someone who attempted suicide and fortunately lived, this hits me on a level that is completely unknown.

When someone says they are going to commit suicide, they are serious.
They're not joking.
They're not looking for attention.
They're not just making a threat.
They are serious.

The Biggs family have lost a brother and son. All because people didn't believe him.

I am glad that when I said I had committed suicide, people believed me. I wouldn't be here keeping the Biggs in my thoughts if it wasn't for that.

Abraham Biggs had previously made announcements on the site that he was going to kill himself, but since he had previously made threats, he wasn't taken seriously.

Every 16 minutes, someone in the United States takes their life. It's time to pay attention and change that.

More vampire news!

Remember a six-minute music video by Fall Out Boy entitled "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More 'Touch Me'"?
It had action, mystery, and masturbation material.
Pete Wentz remembers.

Apparently, there is a short film about the relationship between William Beckett's character and Pete's. And he hopes to get that out sometime.
As a FOB fan, so do I.

Also, Pete Wentz lied about watching the bootleg of Twilight.
We need some ideas as to why Pete Wentz would lie about that. Anyone?

All is right.

I would make a reference on how the person on this site I extremely despise would just leave this site, but who the hell cares about her?

Tonight...

is the Stephen Colbert Christmas Special.
And I could give a flying fuck.

Women Are Funny

Every Tuesday, after South Park, Comedy Central will air a re-run of a popular comedian. I really liked Ralphie May's special. I kind of like George Lopez, to be honest. And I can't remember who, but his special was called "The Pimp Chronicles", would've been good if I could hear what he is saying. There were so many bleeps there was no punchline, because you couldn't hear it!
But usually watching these, I start to feel somewhat annoyed. Carlos Mencia complaining about how women should just have sex with any guy who will, some annoying white guy complaining about black people complaining about racism, claiming there isn't any (yeah fucking right!), the list is endless. They just make me gag. They make me feel offended. When it comes to comedy, I don't get easily offended, but when it's a guy complaining about the supposed "power" women have nowadays (that's exactly why I have to fight for birth control to control my period) and white guys claiming there is no racism, it's so ignorant to me. Do they not read any news?

I wonder if there is more comedians who actually read the newspaper or Yahoo News, or some form of news.
Luckily, here is my answer.

Sarah Haskins, Wanda Sykes, Margaret Cho, Samantha Bee, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, I thank you.
For showing that not only can women be funny, butb feminists can be funny.

If you haven't checked out these lovely ladies, you definetely should.
YouTube Sarah, Wanda and Margaret.
Check out Samantha daily on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central.
And Tina Fey on 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live. And Amy Poehler on SNL.

The lovely Taylor Swift has recently broken up with Joe Jonas.

Now, while some rumours have been around that Joe Jonas cheated on her with actress Camilla Belle, who met on the set of the Jonas Brother's video for "Lovebug". Of course, Joe Jonas denied actually cheating on her in a very disrespectful manner, according to Yahoo.
However, T. Swift confirmed he did dump her via the phone "in 27 seconds." To quoth T. Swift herself, daddy will show him how sorry he'll be.

So, what is she to do?

The possibilties are endless Taylor! Enjoy being single!

UPDATE: When asked what she would do if a guy dumped her over the phone, my sister responded with "I'd beat his ass the next time I saw him."

R.I.P. TRL

I remember watching the show as a wee fifth grader. Watching artists metahorically kill each other daily for a spot on the countdown. Watching the Ramen-Off.

So now, let's give our condoloences to TRL. And pray this doesn't mean the end of the music video (although it might).

Remember hilarious moments from the show.

I Will Soon Have to Compromise my Integrity and Principles in Exchange for Money

New York Trip w/ Choir: $2,000
Homeschooling Program: $400
And I still need to sign up for a driver's ed program, which will cost $300.
And let's not forget CHRISTMAS! Oh joy.

I need to sum up some ideas to make money.

God, why do I feel like money is being squeezed out of me at this time?

On a lighter note, my television was somehow on a Parental Control rerun on MTV, and lo and behold, Hanna Beth was on it! Of course, she brags about her supposed Marc Jacobs coat (because it really matters!), and takes the boy on a bus tour of Los Angeles. First thing she says on the date? "You know that band Shadows Fall? I'm going to be in their next video." Wow. I'm honestly not going to comment. Because it has something to do with someone on this site.

Now, I'm going to make jewlery that I hope will bring in some money.

Twilight and its Seperation from the Techno Teen

Name three things today's average teenager has, besides an attitude. You probably thought: A cell phone, portable music player, and MySpace page.
While I have a considered primitive music player (I still use my CD player), I have a hand-me-down cell phone from my mother, and a MySpace page to keep in contact with friends.
When talking with my peers, they talk about plans for their next YouTube plans. No one passes notes in class. Instead, teenagers text their friends about weekend plans. And adolescents try to listen to their music during class with earphones.

Teenage fiction has highly represented this new trend.
In Avalon High, a book by Princess Diaries author Meg Cabot, Ellie first bumps into Will running, while listening to Eminem on her iPod.
In the Boy Book by E. Lockhart, all the students can't stand leaving their cell phones for two days.
In the popular series, Gossip Girl, the lives of Upper East Side teenagers are revealed on a popular blog.
Teen fiction includes technology. That is, except for Twilight.

It is mentioned in New Moon that Alice has a cell-phone, but everybody else in Forks must clearly not have a cell phone. When Bella gets lost in Port Angeles, Jessica and Angela neglect to call her to find out where she was. Probably because they don't have one.
Bella uses the computer only to email her mother, and look up "vampires" on a search engine.
And Edward has a massive music collection (that, which, I will admit, I envy) and Bella listens to a CD her step-father gave her when she wants to clear her mind.

I am wondering why Twilight, which is obviously teen fiction, has little technology when many teen fiction features a lot of technology. I am interested to know.

DISCLAIMER: If I offended Twilight fans, I am honestly sorry. This journal is meant to get a deeper understanding into this issue in Twilight. Comments debating the series will not be appreciated.

I hate to break it to you

DISCLAIMER: If you are a Twilight fan, you may want to skip over this. I am not going to be presenting this in a neutral stance. If you leave a comment blasting me, don't say I didn't warn you. Again, any Twilight fan that would get offended by this, should just click back.

Here is my first proof.

  • Look at you or act in ways that scare you? Yes
  • Act jealous or possessive? Yes
  • Put you down or criticize you? Yes
  • Try to control where you go, what you wear or what you do? Yes
  • Text or IM you excessively? No
  • Blame you for the hurtful things they say and do? Yes
  • Threaten to kill or hurt you or themselves if you leave them? Yes
  • Try to stop you from seeing or talking to friends and family? Yes
  • Try to force you to have sex before you're ready? No
  • Do they hit, slap, push or kick you? No

According to LoveIsRespect, and from what I can remember from the first three, and recounts from my friends on Breaking Dawn, Edward Cullen passes 7 out of 10.

Still not convinced? Let's try here.

Sign #1: When she is around her boyfriend, he calls her names and puts her down in front of other people. If his family counts, then yes.
Sign #2: He acts extremely jealous when she talks to other boys, even if it's completely innocent. Yes
Sign #3: She apologizes for his behaviour and makes excuses for him. Yes
Sign #4: She frequently cancels plans at the last minute, for reasons that sound untrue. Yes
Sign #5: He is always checking up on her, calling or paging her, and demanding to know where she is and who she has been with. Yes
Sign #6: You've seen him lose his temper, or break things when he is mad. Yes
Sign #7: She seems worried about upsetting him, or making him angry. Yes
Sign #8: She is giving up things that used to be important to her, and is becoming more and more isolated. Yes
Sign #9: Her weight, appearance, or grades have changed dramatically. Yes
Sign #10: She has injuries she can't explain, or her explanations don't make any sense. Yes

According to Liz Claiborne, Bella's friends should have pulled her aside and talked to her, like a good friend does, because she passes 9 out of 10.

I still don't think we've covered it. So one last one.

  • Calls you names, insults you or continually criticizes you. Yes
  • Does not trust you and acts jealous or possessive. Yes
  • Tries to isolate you from family or friends. Yes
  • Monitors where you go, who you call and who you spend time with. Yes
  • Does not want you to work. No
  • Controls finances or refuses to share money. No
  • Punishes you by withholding affection. Yes
  • Expects you to ask permission. No
  • Threatens to hurt you, the children, your family or your pets. No
  • Humiliates you in any way. Yes
And just to add, I used the physical abuse checklist.
  • Damaged property when angry (thrown objects, punched walls, kicked doors, etc.). Yes
  • Pushed, slapped, bitten, kicked or choked you. No
  • Abandoned you in a dangerous or unfamiliar place. Yes
  • Scared you by driving recklessly. Yes
  • Used a weapon to threaten or hurt you. No
  • Forced you to leave your home. Yes
  • Trapped you in your home or kept you from leaving. Yes
  • Prevented you from calling police or seeking medical attention. Yes
  • Hurt your children. No
  • Used physical force in sexual situations. No

Well, according to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, for the emotional abuse checklist, Edward Cullen passed 6 out of 10. And on the physical abuse checklist, he also passed 6 out of 10. Now, at the bottom of this page, a note is read: If you answered ‘yes’ to these questions you may be in an abusive relationship; please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233), 1-800-787-3224 (TTY) or your local domestic violence center to talk with someone about it.

I am not the only one who used proof to point this out. Wendy has said even more.

So, next time you ask "How Edward is abusive?", I want you to remember that you do not have to rape them or hit them to be abusive.

    Yes We Can (Dazzle)

Barack Obama and his daughter, Malia, are both admitted fans of the Harry Potter series. However, with the recent end of Harry Potter, The President-Elect decided to move on to another series: Twilight.
And since it's obvious Twilight has made some people insane, I wonder, what if Obama mixed Twilight with his speeches?

I think we may start hearing these in his speeches:

    • "Everyone deserves health care, including accident-prone teenage mothers."
Bella Swan Pictures, Images and Photos
    • "When it comes to the economy, I believe in reforming the No-Child-Repeating-High-School-For-Eternity Act."
    • "We will refocus our resources on the Volturi."
      volturi Pictures, Images and Photos
    • "I'm asking you to believe. Not just in my ability to bring about real change in Washington, but to believe in the element of dazzle."
    • "We must share our Volvos."
      volvo Pictures, Images and Photos
    • "We can prove that we are more than a collection of Vampires and Werewolves. We are dazzling."
    • "I am against wage discrimination. Smeyer is not paid as much as her fellow male writers. Her lack of talent has nothing to do with this."
Twilight = Anti Feminist Pictures, Images and Photos
    • "I am chagrined by the hatred going on in this country."
    • "I do not believe in the burning of books. Even for the sake of warmth."
Twilight Bonfire Pictures, Images and Photos
    • "I support the Veterans who fought in the Confederacy. I really do."
    • "My wife knows more about the Edward-Loves-Bella conspiracy than I do."
Edward Cullen, Abusive Boyfriend Pictures, Images and Photos
    • And...
      "I am Team Jacob."
Edward sucks Pictures, Images and Photos

DISCLAIMER: I am not against Barack Obama. I may not like Twilight, but I am merely poking fun at the fact that Obama reads Twilight. I am not making fun of Twilight fans, just the Twilight book series.

Thank you all for reading. And please read the disclaimer before commenting.

This is History in its Making

Ever since I've learned about Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and all they've done, I always asked my mom what it was like during those times. I'd ask her what it was like during Vietnam. Everything.
Once, in my English class, my seventh grade English teacher got to talking about her expierences during the Vietnam War, her living near the school in Ohio where four were shot, and talking about how the draft was how she met her husband. Blah, blah, blah.
I had always wished to been a part of history. And my wish had always been fulfilled.

I can remember what it was like the day I got to school on September 11th, 2001, and everyone was talking about what they had seen on the news last night. Being in third grade, I didn't watch the news. Then, when we got into the classroom, my teacher, Mrs. Pryne, talked to us about what had happened. For weeks, I overheard my sister and my mom's conversation about the attacks.
When the news of Hurricane Katrina hit, it was in our English class where we were announced our assignment: We had to write a persuasive essay on one of the issues involving Katrina. Such as pets being left behind, rebuilding New Orleans, the government's involvement (or lackthereof), etc. Doing that essay a friend and I wrote on why New Orleans should have been rebuilt gained me a close friend. I teared up editing another friend's essay on why the pets should not have been left behind.
And apparently, George W. Bush has been declared the worst president in history. Yeah, yeah, it sucked.

But now, not only has Virginia gone Democrat, but we now have our first African-American president.
I can now look and see MLK's dream coming true each and every day. I can just see him in his grave, saying to himself, "I can now rest in peace."
While I wasn't able to participate in this occasion, you can bet I was rooting all along the way.

    November 3, 2008

Oh my God, was this a weird weekend.

Okay, we know all abut my hard drive screwing up, but I have more weird happenings this weekend. They happened, in another world. Where anything can happen. It's called...Dreamworld.

First, Saturday night, I had a dream, that I was a Disney Channel star.
And was there some drama going on.
Apparently, there were rumours going arund that Demi Lovato stole Miley Cyrus' luggage. Of curse, with Miley being the most popular girl, somewhat like the head cheerleader of Disney Channel, only Selena Gomez and I were on Demi's side. I went undercover to find out the truth. The truth about the rumour? It was Nick Jonas who stole Miley's luggage, and framed Demi, in an attempt tostir up drama! Of course, Miley can't stand such a conspiracy, so I was exiled. Poor Demi and I.

    And, last night, oh boy.
My dream was that, a week before Twilight was released into theaters, there was a special showing of it on Nickelodeon.
    It actually wasn't that bad.
Die-hard fans wuld've hated it, especially since it was nothing like the book. And us Sparkle P33ns would've hated it still.
There were two little boys named Marshall, who was seven, and Ashby, who was three, who lived with the Cullens. They had blonde hair, blue eyes, and were so adorable.
And the epic battle between Bella, Edward and James was held in a garage. Or more specifically, my garage.
And Edward was more focused on protecting the boys than Bella.

So, those were my dreams over the weekend.
    Holy shit.

A Review of "The Boy Book" by E. Lockhart

I had recently read the book "The Boy Book" by E. Lockhart, which is apparently a sequel to "The Boyfriend List", which I didn't know. Oops.

So, here are goods and bads.

    Good:

    • There are many excerpts from this "Boy Book" in it, which I always have a fondness for novels written by a style as if a diary, or summing up a character's feelings in lists, ala Meg Cabot.
    • The setting is in Seattle. Woohoo!
    • The protagonist, Ruby, is definetely quite unique. She shops at throft stores, works at the zoo part-time, and loves movies. Also, she is outcasted from school for (bullshit) reasons, which I could completely relate to.
    • The way she tells off ex-BFF Kim. Go Ruby!
    • Her telling off Kim in front llamas. I just find that funny.
    • Her re-telling of instances.
    • A more in-depth look at high school.
    • I love that it is in first-person. I love getting into someone else's mind.
    • Noel. He is so awesome.

    Okay, now the Bad:

    • Kim's boyfriend-stealing (that's what it is) is blatantly forgotten about, because she said it was "meant to be". Anyone could say they're meant to be.
    • And then Ruby is outcasted because she went to a dance as said boyfriend, Jackson's date, and they kissed. Um...what the fuck?
    • All the slang terms that I am just not up to date on. "cut out"? "posh"? Please, inform this old-school me!
    • The constant "Get in the twenty-first century!" remarks to sexist comments. Sorry, but there is clearly sexism in the 21st century. And tons of it. Women can vote and work outside the home, and that's just about it.
    • Noel wants Ruby, but Ruby's friend Nora likes Noel, so Ruby won't kiss Noel. Excuse me? If I were her, I would just pull the "meant to be" card and make-out with him!
    • And, of course, when she's thinking to herself why Noel would like her over Nora, she states, and I quote:
"She had beautiful dark curls and huge hooters. Plus she could bake. Every guy's dream."
Sweetie, if you're going to tell how the 21st century is not sexist anymore, try not giving in to that sexism. Kthxbai.

So, while the good outweighs the bad, it's obvious this was a good read for me.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

    Reflections from a Saturday

I fell asleep last night watching The Addams Family Values. I missed my favorite part when Wednesday tells the truth about Thanksgiving, and then burns down the camp. The pyro in me loves her burning down the camp. I almost missed when Debbie tries to blow up the house to kill Fester. Although I did catch when she tried to kill him by throwing the boombox in the bathtub, which was hilarious.

After a stressful month, with school, Halloweenies, and certain friend drama, offline, and now becoming online, I went shopping at Kohls with my mom and sister.
I am mostly a tomboy, but I can be a girly-girl. I wear dresses on spontaneous days as a pick-me-up. I like reading fashion magazines, though I want to give those girls a coupon for McDonalds. And shopping is therapeutic, at times, to me. While I mostly like shopping for CDs, I do like shopping for clothes at times too.
At Kohl's, I got a pair of pajama pants with penguins ice skating on them. I honestly liked penguins before Happy Feet. Actually, I've loved penguins since I went to the zoo with my family in first grade, and I just fell in love with the penguins. For one, it was a hot day, and their exhibit was nice and cool. Second, they were just so happy. While certain animal rights groups complain about how zoos are bad for animals (I can argue against that), they don't care. I asked my mom to buy me a little penguin stuffed animal, which was depicted holding a fish. I think I still have it to this day. While I wasn't too fond of Happy Feet, I like how with it, came a bunch of penguin products for me, like pajamas pants, shirts, and slippers.

After Kohl's, we had lunch at Red Robin, where I had a Gardenburger, and a virgin strawberry daiqrui.

After that, my sister went to Ulta, my mom went to Dress Barn, and I went to Best Buy, where I got the Lion King soundtrack and Nirvana's In Utero.
Okay, you may wonder about The Lion King soundtrack. While Disney has obviously been sexist for a long time, I find The Lion King to be spectacular. One, it's so sexually forward. You know, the alleged subliminal message saying "sex"? Also, Elton John wrote the music for the songs, and Hans Zimmer, who composed the score for the Dark Knight, also wrote the score for this. And while Mufasa's death is obviously traumatizing for young children, it is still an excellent movie to me. You can tell me wrong, but I won't listen.
When I was looking in the lyric booklet of In Utero, I saw that Kurt Cobain had pink hair. And since the album came out in 1993, it is obvious that scene queens are copying Kurt Cobain. So there. Ha! Or maybe it was just a trick of the light, decieving my eye.

When my mom and I dropped off my sister, my mom dropped me off at Michael's (a craft store) where I could get some more supplies for my jewelery. Also, my sister gave me a coupon, which saved me tons of money. Then I walked back to WinCo (grocery store) to where my mom was grocery shopping and helped her.

    Then we went home.
My hard drive is severely fucked, so I will be using my mom's laptop for the next couple days, or so.
A search for Kimberly J. Brown on Wikipedia led me to a search of other old Disney Channel stuff, like the show So Weird, Even Stevens, and old Disney Channel movies like Stepsister From Planet Weird, and The Thirteenth Year. Did you know Dave Coullier was in not only The Thirteenth Year, but the Even Stevens Movie?
Also, Riley, while learning that Kimberly J. Brown broke a Broadway record, she hasn't been in much since Halloweentown 3, and Bringing Down The House.
And, the guy who played Louis' nerdy friend on Even Stevens, his name is Fred Meyers, which is a popular grocery store chain here in Washington, which made me laugh out loud.

My feet are currently in pain from sitting cross-legged for a long time.
So, with that, I wrap up this blog.
    Goodnight and shalom.
    Brittany
