Song Dedication #7: It's a surprise.

I dedicate this song to all those who are fresh.

You know who you are. And the many more accidentally left off the list.

"Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air (Theme Song)"

Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I liked to take a minute
Just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air

In west Philadelphia born and raised
On the playground was where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all shootin some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of guys
Who were up to no good
Startin making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
She said 'You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air'

I begged and pleaded with her day after day
But she packed my suite case and send me on my way
She gave me a kiss and then she gave me my ticket.
I put my walkman on and said, 'I might as well kick it'.

First class, yo this is bad
Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass.
Is this what the people of Bel-Air Living like?
Hmmmmm this might be alright.

But wait I hear there're prissy, wine all that
Is Bel-Air the type of place they send this cool cat?
I don't think sow
I'll see when I get there
I hope they're prepared for the prince of Bel-Air

Well, the plane landed and when I came out
There was a dude who looked like a cop standing there with my name out
I ain't trying to get arrested
I just got here
I sprang with the quickness like lightening, disappeared

I whistled for a cab and when it came near
The license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror
If anything I can say this cab is rare
But I thought 'Now forget it' - 'Yo homes to Bel Air'

I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8
And I yelled to the cabbie 'Yo homes smell ya later'
I looked at my kingdom
I was finally there
To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air

Listen to it here.

Harry Potter vs. Twilight: The Literary Debate For the Centuries

Okay, for my next idea, I decided to debate over which is better: Harry Potter or Twilight?

We will examine in the following categories

  • Harry Potter vs. Twilight: Style
  • Harry Potter vs. Twilight: Maturity
  • Harry Potter vs. Twilight: Heroes and Villains
  • Harry Potter vs. Twilight: Heroine Admiration
  • Harry Potter vs. Twilight: For The Kids?
  • Harry Potter vs. Twilight: What Others Say
  • Harry Potter vs. Twilight: The Authors
  • Harry Potter vs. Twilight: In Conclusion

Now, before I brigade on this epic (or not so) journey of debate between the two fantasy hits, I ask a few things of you:

  • Please do not offend anyone in the process, such as the writer of these, the author of these books, the possible commenters, or any existing person.
  • A debate is most certainly welcome, in fact encouraged. You may debate with me, anyone here, but do not offend anyone in the process.
  • Please do not spam me. I am asking for feedback on the issue. Not if I want to join some dating site.

So, if anyone has something they'd like to add on the issue, feel free to message me, and your input will be put in the series, and you will be given credit.

Anyone up for the idea?

I don't mean to be an attention whore or something...

Who is going to the St. Helens Warped Tour?

So far I know Bree and I think Jen is going too.

I was just wondering.

Got to hit the hay lovies. Doing community service tomorrow, stuffing envelopes, shredding, whatever the staff needs me to do.

Oh, bye the way, here's a spoiler for you:

JACK DIES, AND ROSE CRIES.

Don't worry Jessica. They don't take themselves seriously either.

I understand there are people that dislike Cobra Starship. I respect, yet disagree with their opinion. And not "i respect ur opinion, but ur a feminazi bitch who can't get laid" respect-yet-disagree way, I mean the actual way. Unless you mention that Cobra Starship is "a joke"

Today, I got my new issue of Alternative Press magazine, opened to see the feedback on issue #239, with Cobra Starship on the cover.

"If I hadn't gotten my subscription for free, I'd cancel right now. Putting Cobra Starship on your cover is a joke, and not a very funny one at that. I'm so disappointed that this cheesy, lame buzz band got front and center when I can think of a dozen other more worthy bands to hold that coveted position. I figured I'd give the article a fair shake (and I did read all the way through) and behold my lack of surprise that Gabe Saporta had nothing of importance or real relevance to say. It's almost as if the interviewer was trying to make excuses for how stupid Cobra Starship are by putting emphasis on Saporta's hardcore roots. I don't give a rat's you-know-what where he came from-where he is right now is what matters. Cobra Starship may have been voted most underrated band in 2007, but they won't be around in five years to say the same thing."--Jessica S. Denver, CO

Well aren't we the little ESP. How do you know what will happen to them in five years?
Hasn't the whole band stated just about everywhere they don't take themselves seriously?
And what exactly should Gabe Saporta have said of importance? Talk about sexuality? Or something?
I honestly do realize that you have a right to dislike Cobra Starship, but it's kind of hard to take you seriously when you say Cobra Starship shouldn't be taken seriously, along with the band.

But honestly, to anyone who dislikes any band, artist, or lame excuse for an artist, all I can say is shut up, nominate and vote. Let the blood bath begin.

2 WEEKS

UNTIL I GO TO WARPED TOUR!

Two weeks until I see The Academy Is..., Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes, We The Kings, Broadway Calls, and All Time Low all on the same day!

And I'll also reunite with some of my best friends from school!

And I'm still trying to convince them to join Buzznet.

Though one of them thinks it's a scene place.

CONVINCE HIM HE'S WRONG!

Okay, sorry.

JUST SO HAPPY!

TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today...

I read an article in the paper about the Kelso Theater Pub being haunted. Now I seriously want to spend the night there. It's like a freaking ghost party there once the place closes! But don't worry about me, the ghosts are harmless (like you were.)

I was going to see Mama Mia! today. But I didn't. Hopefully, my sister will see it tomorrow when she gets back from North Dakota.

But she'll probably be too busy with her husband. Sorry, too much information.

So I learned today my future boys have a 50% chance of getting a deadly disease only boys get.

Screw it, I'm adopting.

At the bookstore today, I saw a cute emo boy. He was cute.

I also saw a book that should be mandatory reading before going onto the Internet. It's called Painless Grammar. I vote that this book becomes mandatory reading before one enters the web.

Eh, that's all about my random day today. Sorry I bored you. I'm in a pathetic attempt to bring back endless content to Buzznet.

I also turned my buzzes off so that people would comment. No, it's not in an attempt to be most commented, it's in my effort so there's more activity on Buzznet. If that made sense.

Is ignorance cute or something? (WARNING: RANT!)

WARNING: This is a rant. No spared feelings here. If you dislike bitching, I suggest you click back.

I remember when my choir (which is all-girls, by the way) went to contest this year, we walked downstairs for Sightreading after we had just finished performing and got great reviews from the judges (perhaps our best all year!). We had fun joking around the Sightreading judge a bit, until she asked us to start sightreading. Our first time around, we had messed up, as we all giggled at our fuck-up. She then said, "Society thrives on cuteness. When you mess up, you giggle like 'Oh I'm cute!' but to be mature, don't giggle when you mess up. Just shrug it off your shoulders like it's nothing." (not the exact wording, but straight and to the point.)

So we all know The Academy Is... decided to have HannaBeth in their music video. Some loved the idea, some wanted to turn into the Hulk at the idea. And some got even angrier when they saw this comment on the original journal where she announced her news:

And then remarked that it was "Forever Young", even though William Beckett has stated about everywhere the single is "About A Girl"

Then, when I stopped by her blog today to see what the set was like (By the way, that description made me vomit a little inside) she told of her next job on ABC Family's series "Greek" as a Sorority Sister and stated the show was on "fox family".

How does she even get jobs with that stupidity?

I thought to get a job you had to at least know a little background on your job (like the title of the music video/show/movie, the channel or company that's producing it?). Is it because it's so fucking cute that she's so fucking stupid?

You know, some people try and work their way through the world by maturity, grace, and intelligence. But obviously that's being ruined by people who work through by being cute!

Or maybe I'm supposed to be menstruating, and nobody fucking cares.

July 24, 2008

Could this perhaps be the stupidest question ever asked?

The question in question (bahaha, you didn't understand that, did you?) was asked around November, when the school board decided to take a risk with school dances, after the last one in September had "risque dancing" involved, and all dances were cancelled for the first semester.

While in one of my classes, I overheard two pricks, er, guys, discussing the dance.

Apparently, the school board decided to curb dirty dancing by playing different music. Instead of hip-hop, they'd be playing rock n roll.

So one of the pricks asked "How can you dance to rock music?"

Am I the only one who seriously wanted to punch him at that moment?

How stupid could you get?

I dance with my white (hot) moves to Cobra Starship.
"About A Girl" makes me dance like I'm not in love.
"Hella Good" makes me want to dance 'till I don't feel hella good.
And that's not all?

Care to add your thoughts?

Did you know that listening to this is good for you?

People, try reading a book. Take up a hobby! If you can, get a job!

Want to know what I'm doing to occupy my summer?

  4. Texted Sara (as seen in the video)
  5. Gone kayaking.
  6. Updated my music library with Charlotte Sometimes, We The Kings and Broadway Calls.
  7. Wrote a couple songs.

Everybody, quit taking the net so seriously and occupy your summer with more than just BNet!

The Untold Story of Sleeping Beauty

As I was reading the book Witch Hunt by Marc Anderson, the first chapter sets up the thought of witches at the time. Mr. Anderson mentions the popular fairy-tale, Sleeping Beauty.

We all know the story. A royal couple was unable to have children, until they finally concieve and have a daughter. The couple throw a grand celebration, and snub an old woman on their guest list.  She gets pissed, and curses the daughter to die on her sixteenth birthday.

Two big questions left unanswered, much like the many questions not answered in the Twilight series (but that's another "fairy-tale"): Why was this woman not invited to the party, and how did the King and Queen suddenly concieve a child?

Well, in my version, the old woman slighted is an unpopular, yet powerful witch who helped the couple have the child, and then she was not invited to save the couple from humiliation at having an old, unnattractive woman at their party drinking up their rum.

So har-de-har-har Disney! You can make Malificent as fucking scary as you want, but she is just a pissed-off old woman who didn't get the thanks she deserved for making Aurora possible, so she can meet the creepy stalker prince, die, and the creepy stalker prince kills the poor woman/dragon, kisses the dead princess, and they live happily ever after.

Okay, sorry I'm rambling. Just trying to get some content back on BNet.

Dreams are just dreams, right?

Last night I had a dream that I was at some camp. Mr Krabs and Mrs Puff were camp counsellors, and I couldn't find my converse, so I broke into their cabin, and found Mrs Puff's at a size 33. I eventually found mine in my cabin. I went to get some ice cream, at some Cold Stone Creamery-esque place. I saved the shop and got two free bowls of ice cream, when I went for my third one, I saw I had...NO MONEY!

Oh my God! I HAD NO MONEY! It was terrifying.

Then my dream ended, to which I woke up with a heart attack.

Luckily, I checked my wallet, and I had a little money. $28 to be exact.

Oh yeah, and last night, I had a dream I played a blonde version of Meg in some sitcom version of Family Guy. And also, Chris was brunette. Weird.

And now, for your amusement:

Streaking

Ah, now we can rest easy now, right?

FUNNY FACTS!

This is a bunch of random facts that I find hilarious. This will be updated from time to time.

July 17, 2008: There are plenty of rumours surrounding the subject behind Alanis Morisette's song "You Oughta Know", but according to ABC News Web article, the song is about Full House star Dave Coulier, who played the comical Joey. For realz?

July 17, 2008: The writers of Family Guy would try and work the words "murder" and "death" into the titles of the Season 1 episodes to resemble old-fashioned radio mystery shows. After four episodes in this fashion, the writers got terribly confused by this, and quit titling that way. Again, there was only four episodes like this.

My Open Letter to PTC:

Dar Parents Television Council:

I understand that you feel you must spread your beliefs onto the entertainment industry and make it more "family-friendly" but I feel you need to rethink your definition of family-friendly.

It is obvious you dislike The Ellen DeGeneres Show, claiming it indecent. I myself have watched the show and consider its content as good as your favorite, The George Lopez Show. So why is it you do not like Ms. DeGeneres? Is it possibly because Ellen DeGeneres is a proud lesbian?

And exactly how is Paris Hilton's commercial for Carl's Jr. soft-core porn? She's washing a car and eating a burger. I'm just shocked she ate something. And plus, if you consider this porn, you might want to see another bit of Ms. Hilton's work titled "One Night in Paris".

To be honest, I don't think you'd even have to worry about what is on television if you would just, I don't know, have your kids go out and play? Let them socialize with their peers?

When I was younger, I would also watch television. My favorite shows changed from time to time. At three, I was a huge fan of Barney. I was obsessed with that purple dinosaur. I still love that big purple dinosaur, although the new episodes make me want to rip my hair out. When I was around five and six, I was watching Scooby Doo and Beetlejuice cartoons. Age seven and I watched Rugrats and Mickey Mouse cartoons. But I played more than I watched. My mom had a great job as Assistant Executive Director at Progress Center, and was always working, so she would send me to day-care when school got out. I had great times of my life in day-care, and learned a lot morally.

Maybe if you let your kids play a little more, you wouldn't be worrying much?

And my last point:

Yes, children are highly influential. But you want to know who they think is the coolest person in the world? I'll give you a hint: It's not SpongeBob. No, it's you. Everything they see you do, they think is cool.

Thank you for reading my letter.

Love from,

Brittany
Former child and blogger

Advertisement and Discussions

October of last year brought the Buzznet Razzies. With categories like "Worst Attempt at Being Edgy or Political" and "Most Pathetic Band Member Solo Career", many voted for the worst in music, and some artists swept (*cough*Avril Lavigne*cough*) and some got a simple message from award host/creator Wendy (johnnynotsid): Do better.

And the Razzies have returned with three new categories and a disclaimer asking you to remember that you nominated, you voted, so shut the hell up. Go nominate! And check out last year's losers...er...winners.

But, I ask you...

If you have seen my Halloweenies Awards, you might know what I'm talking about. If you have not, click here.

Should I do the Halloweenies this year?
And if I will, would anyone that I have a good communication with here on Buzznet like to present an award?
And should I create some new categories?

Some new categories will include:
Royal Dazzler (Favorite Member of Do I Dazzle You? Buzznet Group)
Best Tim Burton movie

Yay or Nay?

I made a comic for Sara

I was bored, and feeling in a generous, cheesy mood, so I decided to make a comic for Sara.

Which is probably not going to show up.

Oh well. If anyone likes it, I'll post it photo, and they can click "All Sizes" or whatever.

Here you go:

I know, a really crappy comic.

But it'll give you a few laughs, eh?

You Wanna Know What Grinds My Gears? July 15, 2008

Censored title aside, I went to William Beckett's blog today and had the unpleasurable expierence of reading a comment on this post.

"Anon
william. about a girl makes me so pissed.

PLEASE DONT SELL OUT"

We all know I love "About A Girl", but I can understand if this anonymous person doesn't like it.

However, I swear if I hear the word "sell-out" or the term one more time, I'm going to turn into the Hulk or something.

Today's society is run by money. How can you sell out in a world run by money and corporations?

And how is recording a poppier song with the lyrics "I'm not in love/This is not my heart/I'm not gonna waste these words about a girl" selling out? It's a song!

And also, what is a sell-out anyway? The term is so loose, and whenever someone tries to describe their definition of the term, I feel a *headdesk* coming on.

I know for people, it's nice to feel like you own the band and can tell them what to do (i.e. tell your favorite mediocre bass player but fantastic lyricist that he shouldn't marry a pop star he's in love with, tell them they suck now that they are on MTV, tell any new fans they can go die, etc.) but, I'm sorry to say, YOU DON'T OWN THE BAND. You may own their CDs, have met them at their concerts, and participate in their various online communities, but you still don't own the actual band. You cannot own a person. They're human beings. You can't tell them what to do. And if you even try, please kindly get off the net.

And that, people, is what grinds my gears.

I'm not in love

After dancing and singing along to "About A Girl" by The Academy Is... I took a good listen to the lyrics, which frightened me:

"One song about a girl
Can't breathe when I'm around her
I wait here everyday
In case she scratches her face

She'll never notice/know this*

I'm not in love
This is not my heart
I'm not gonna waste these words about a girl"

How could William Beckett write the best words to describe my crappy overcrush on a certain guy with a similar name? HOW? HOW? HOW??????????

Because he is the smartest, funniest, most real guy I've ever met who has to be too good to be true and will maybe hopefully never notice that I have any feelings for him.

Oh also, he is five years older than me, which if you're doing your math, he is illegal to date.

While I think this is an excellent song and is quickly becoming my summer anthem, it is scaring me how The Academy Is... is writing songs that I relate to word for word. It's like William Beckett is reading my mind, then grabbing a pen and paper, and writing my thoughts into a song, and then records it. Scary, huh?

* I have horrible hearing, so I couldn't decipher the lyric between these two options. Once the record comes out, the lyrics will confirm the option.

Cliche

New song I wrote. Any critiques/suggestion plz?

Cliche

I'm just a cliche
You know this is true
I can't string words for you
Cause I'm the high school girl in love

I'm not unique, just ordinary
I don't stand out, I fit in
You couldn't pick me out if you gathered me and nine more
And that's no lie

I'm so cliche
Just fess up
I cling tight to your waist
Just like every other damn girl

I'm not unique, just ordinary
I don't stand out, I fit in
You couldn't pick me out if you gathered me and nine more
And that's no lie

I'm the cliche upon you
Just another check off
Fun while it lasted
Fun while it lasted

I'm not unique, just ordinary
I don't stand out, I fit in
You couldn't pick me out if you gathered me and nine more
And that's no lie

No lovely lady lumps?

Thanks to gabelicious, for giving us the album cover of Fast Times at Barrington High by The Academy Is...

As William stated in an interview, that the record was a "celebration of youth" and was described as having a poppier sound. Mr. Beckett also stated to Bree that it was going to be an "infectious little number" (he also said he looked like a girl, but I don't believe that). All of which the cover of so completely covers.

I was hoping for the cover to have Mike Carden showing off his lovely lady lumps, but I guess this is good.

Can't wait until August 19th to touch this cover for yourself and listen to every catchy song?
Don't worry. The band is playing new songs from the record at every stop on Warped Tour.

And here is 20 seconds of the cover of "Nine in the Afternoon" by Panic at the Disco:

And here is one new song for you, "About A Girl":

Thank you and shalom.

Dude, Disney Channel?

Replacing Dave the Barbarian with The Little Mermaid?

How could you?

BLASPHEMY!

The Little Mermaid cartoon is nowheres near magical as the movie.

Maybe because there's less singing and less Ursula...but it just can't match up!

How can you replace this?

I bite my thumb at you Disney Channel.
I bite my thumb at you.

Oh Crappy VH1 Reality Shows, Why Do We Love Thee?

In honour of the premiere of the new VH1 Celebreality show, "I Love Money", I pondered the cash cow that is celebreality.

These men and women are exploiting themselves and having sex with someone who looks like he's smoked one too many.
Celebreality is the complete exploitation of human beings, perpetuates stereotypes, and damages the livers of so many unsuspecting adults.
But yet, it is so juicy...

Where else could we watch such a catfight?
Where else could we watch how pathetic people would stoop for fame?

Nothing Heidi and Lauren could do to each other could match the hatred between New York and Pumkin, Heather and Daisy.
No one could be more hated like Heidi than how hated New York, Lacey, and Larissa, are despised.

Maybe these shows are an antidote to the "Oh hai, I'm a bisexual, but I don't know if I'm straight or lesbian, but hey, at least this is helping gay rights, right?" schlop that MTV is producing.

What is it about this shit that keeps us tuning in? You tell me.

Kit freaking Kittredge

I need to see this movie. Pronto.

I mean, hello? She grew up at a time I would've loved to live in, it has a great soundtrack (Billie Holliday is on it people. Billie Holliday!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and like me, she wants to be a writer (though she wants to do hard-hitting stories, I'd rather do stories like "The Academy Is... having fast times on the Billboard chart" or something like that.)

Also, I had a bit of an obsession with the American Girl dolls when I was younger. Yes, they were so fucking expensive, but I had all of them. Except for Molly. And the Best Friends. (I had Nelly, though.) and all sorts of little clothes for them.

Just letting you know.

Under A Love Spell

Yet another crappy song I wrote. Any critiques you'd like to give me? Please?

"Under A Love Spell"

You got me hanging by thin thread
But I'm not so sure how strong your grip is
I'm hoping that you'll hold me tight
Because I can't live this way

I don't want to break free
I'm not gonna break free

You got me under your love spell
You got me under your love spell
You got me under your love spell
And everything you do is just like magic

You got me orbiting around your Earth
And what a strong force it is
You're gonna if I can do anything about it

Don't let me go
Don't let me go

You got me under your love spell
You got me under your love spell
You got me under your love spell
You got me under your love spell
And everything you do is just like magic

I'm not gonna break free (Don't let me go)
I'm not gonna break free (Don't let me go)
Don't let me go

You got me under your love spell
You got me under your love spell
You got me under your love spell
You got me under your love spell
You got me under your love spell
And everything, everything, everything
Everything you do is just like magic

Phew...

So everything is back to normal.

You may have to edit your top friends again, but everything is perfectly back to normal.

So can we all forget about this?

With my hours off, I made a necklace and a pair of earrings. Cool, huh?

How was your guys' day, besides you-know-what?

Lately I've Been Tired and Uninspired

Seems to be the statement of my life lately.

I have writer's block, excluding crappy fanfics.

Maybe my little vacation in Clatskanie will help...
