Weighty this wayThis week has not been a good week for fat people. And considering our second part? Anyone over 100 lbs. falls into this category. First off, we have to take a look at Stephenie Meyer's biographical manga. Sure, we've already complained that she is the anti-feminist, that J.K. Rowling should've deserved one of these before S. Meyer, but that isn't nearly as annoying as this new fact. Here is Stephenie Meyer in real life: And these are pictures of Stephenie Meyer in her comic book: Ashly also pointed out that Stephenie's lips are smaller. The only thing I can think of that is kept the same is her breast size. Now, we all know how shallow Stephenie Meyer is, considering the only fat character in the Twilight series is Charlie. Edward beauty is described 100+ times in Twilight alone, Bella considers herself a goddess after being turned, you get the idea. Stephenie still uses that skinny shot of her that she stole from some kid on MySpace with their display name as "Sara Suicide". But this is way more. These are supposed to be books about female empowerment. These are about praising female heroes in today's society, for their talents, not their looks. So how is this supposed to help by trimming her into half her size? How does this reflect on the fact that one of today's biggest female heroes is so insecure that she needs to be drawn into the smallest size? While Stephenie Meyer didn't start writing at the weight she is now, she certainly wasn't that skinny in all of her old promotion photos.
Also in fat news, Ralph Lauren has fired a model for being too fat. This model is the infamous photoshopped model, who was shopped to extreme ridiculousness. More pictures! Here is said model in reality: She is like, so fat, right? At 5'8 and 120 lbs, she has got to have cankles! Fillipa Hamilton, the model shown here, has been modeling since she was 15. That is, until they fired her for being fat. Oh, and when they photoshopped her to look like this. God, this is worse than the seventeen-year-old recovering anorexic being sent home from Paris for being too fat.
As a teenage girl who is over size 6, I'm not feeling all that great. Someone who is (for some reason) considered a female hero can't even come to terms with her own weight, and tries to conceal it as hard as she can, and a model who is taller than me and weighs less than me is fired for being fat.

This used to bother me a lot though, and it sucks that it matters to everyone else as much as it does.
It's awful how people feel as though they have to cover up their weight in order to make themselves look better. I realize that one wants to make themselves look as appealing as possible, that doesn't mean that it should include editing your entire body type. I wonder how she'll try and rationalize it in interviews
Anyways, that's besides the point. I was appalled when I originally saw that photoshopped ad, it's so unrealistic and angular, and I don't see how anyone could think that looks better than the original model, who is already gorgeous.
Re: "fat" model. So she's 5'8" and 120? I'm 5'4" and 110 and pretty consistently referred to as skinny.
SO WTF RALPH LAUREN, WTAF.
Also there is a complete double standard for weight with women when compared to men. Some guy had the nerve to call me fatass while I was WALKING through a McDonalds drive through only ordering a 50c cone (one for me and one for my friend). And when he got out of the car when one of the guys called him a name in my defence, not only did he say "Alright who had to be the smart-arse who couldn't keep his mouth shut?" (never mind the fact that he couldn't keep his mouth shut in the first place calling me a fatass) but he was significantly overweight.
All I was thinking was "At least I'm SUPPOSED to have boobs."
-_-
The first one is "the girl in the dream", who turned out to be Bella, but let's face it, Smeyer=Bella.
I'm not so sure about J.K. Rowling though, because when the post was announced on here, there were a slew of people crying "WTF? J.K. is a better female role model than Smeyer!" The same series also created one for Sarah Palin.
God, why do I know too much about this shit?
also, that dress is not flattering. honey, you shouldnt wear horizontal stripes if you want to look thinner
LOL
also, that model is 5'8" and 120lbs. I am 5'7" and 127lbs. I am referred to as skinny, and i think of myself as skinny, and I am just slightly heavier than her. and they have the nerve to say she's too fat?! SERIOUSLY?!
and guys don't even like super skinny girls. not saying girls should be all about trying to live up to what they think guys want, but if any girl is thinking that looking like a borderline skeleton is going to make her look sexy to guys, she's on crack. most girls who are considered "sex symbols" have some curves. y'know, like girls are sorta supposed to have? it's one thing if you're naturally thin, cuz at least that still looks healthy and your body is usually proportioned for that. but if you look like you've been starving yourself, then it just looks sickly and frail and yuck. i mean what guy wants to date you if he's scared that if he touches you, you'll break into a thousand pieces or something? ugh. it's stupid.
ARGH.
