Target Pulls Out On "Gossip Girl" Deal (CORRECTION: No, they don't.)

After many people were physched about Anna Sui designing clothes after the characters of Gossip Girl being sold at Target, and a certain Buzznet member created a poll psyching them up further, Target has pulled out of the deal.

It's a shame too, because there was going to be a HUGE party at an NYC Target, with signings and even Anna Sui herself appearing.

So why, you ask, would Target want to scrap all this hard work? Because one top executive was concerned with being associated with the show because of it's scandalous plotlines. Next, I hear, they're planning to not sell Green Day albums.

There is a huge market on making bargain fashions that even celebrities love. There are die-hard Gossip Girl fans, who, unlike their idols, don't have enough money in the bank to afford the styles they want to emulate. Target, this was a stupid idea.

I would get further riled up, because a) I am against all this bullshit "family-friendly" idea that only applies to film, television, and music, yet nowhere else, and b) I am a stylish girl.

But then I remember that Target dog, an his cute wittle face is preventing me from getting angry. (What can I say, I'm a sucker for dogs.)

Well, Target dog, we put no blame on you. However, Target executives, we put blame on you.

And Blair, please no blackmailing the company. Save it for that Countess or whatever.

UPDATE! 7/15/09 Collection goes on as planned. Sorry to anybody who was confused.

I couldn't care less about Gossip Girl, that was just a marketing gimmick anyway, but are they still pulling the Anna Sui line?

The Anna Sui line was the Gossip Girl line.

This is so sad, I saw some of the designs for the store and they looked so cute.

Dude, people would have bought clothes from there! It's like stores are trying to get us not to shop there! That's Plain BullShit that the executive is afraid of the storylines or plots or whatever. Ad i don't even watch Gossip Girl.
